This is one of the ways that the developers make money. However, the search engine lacks many features of the \u2018default\u2019 Google, and looks a lot worse. I have therefore made a basic shell script that allows you to fix the default search engines.<\/p>\n<p>Instructions (Linux Mint 11)<\/p>\n<p>1) Download and unzip the following file:<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/bbgamer.co.uk\/dl\/MintSearchFix.zip<\/p>\n<p>2) In the MintSearchFix directory, right click and click \u2018Open in Terminal\u2019<\/p>\n<p>3) In the terminal type \u2018sudo .\/mintsearchfix.sh\u2019. (You may need to \u2018chmod +x mintsearchfix.sh\u2019)<\/p>\n<p>4) Press enter.<\/p>\n<p>If at any time you wish to restore the backup that the script makes, follow the above instructions but replace \u2018.\/mintsearchfix.sh\u2019 with \u2018.\/restorebackup.sh\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully this helps anyone who is having that problem. Also, consider donating to the Linux Mint developers if you like what they\u2019re doing.
